Resort History:

The British holiday camp tycoon, Billy Butlin, began development in West End in 1951 on what was to become the Jack Tar Resort, the first upscale all-inclusive island resort. The project included an airfield, marina, a complex of canals, commercial dock, a 424-room hotel, 27-hole golf course and the largest freshwater swimming pool in the western hemisphere.

The resort prospered during the 1950s and 1960s, but then began a slow decline until it closed in the late 1980s. West End Resorts Ltd. Purchased the property in 1997 and created Old Bahama Bay as the first luxury residential, marina and resort community on Grand Bahama Island.  The marina refurbishment was completed in October 1999 and the Inn officially opened in May 2001.
